We just finished Week 8 of this presentation class. Up to now, students have already made 3 presentations on a variety of topics ranging from “The Witcher” books and tv show to “The Changing Definition of Marriage.”
In the first half of this semester students have learned about how to craft a story in their presentations and how to develop audience buy-in to their topics by making use of ethos, pathos, and logos. Sessions have been devoted to the story message, the spoken message, and the visual message. Group work has been employed to help students develop the soft skills of communication and collaboration in both face-to-face and online environments. ICT skills have been enhanced through the digital requirements of the class. We have one more practice presentation to go next week. After that, students will put all that they have learned about making presentations to use as they prepare their final project: submitting a presentation to the OIDAI SDGs Initiative, which will take place in October 2023.
