Theory of International Development & Aid II

We started the new year’s class with an individual presentation to design a career that addresses glocal social issues. Each student searched and selected interesting career opportunities from UN, Japan International Cooperation Agency, diplomatic organization, NGO/NPOs and private corporations. This activity opened their minds and increased awareness that there are many opportunities to take social action as professionals globally and locally. Here is a comment from one of the students:

It was very interesting to hear the job descriptions after each person explained how they became interested in those jobs, and there were many jobs that I did not know about and I learned something new. Some people in the class had found volunteer work or jobs where they could use their special skills and presented them, which I thought was very good and realistic content that we can take action on right now. The more I researched, the more I learned that many organizations and companies are working on glocal social issues, and I realized that there is a whole world out there that I am still unaware of. I hope to continue to learn and gain knowledge.
